This is a Very Nice unusual Heart Shaped Sterling Silver open salt. It also has (3) Three Ball Feet and va heart shaped recess. The lighting makes the metal look gold in the photos but it is sterling with the markings of THE H.M. BROWN CO., STERLING.
The diameter is 2 1/4". Also in cluded is a silver heart shaped spiral handle salt spoon, marked STERLING.

Electro plate over nickel silver. Includes a salt spoon also marked EPNS. Excellent Shape and Very Good Condition. Slight Tarnish.
This is a Rare Open Salt made in Baltimore, Md. by Samuel Kirk. Kirk is one of America's Best Silversmiths. From 1861 to 1868 Samuel Kirk's sons worked at the firm and the name was S. KIRK & SONS. That allows this great open salt to be dated in the 1860's. It has a gold washed bowl. We are including a gold washed salt spoon with this Baltimore Salt. with the numbers 948. On the side of the basket is a monogramed initial of M & C and underneath the words TAKE HOME PRIZE. It appears this must have been a gift for guests at a wedding reception or some other type of affair.
