| Family of Weems Coat of Arms. This was a Honorable Mention in the "SIXTH ANNUAL NATIONAL ART EXHIBITION" National League of American Pen Women. Washington, D.C.--April 24, 1932. First Honorable Mention. Heraldry. "WEEMS COAT OF ARMS". Artist: Evelyn Weems French. 10 3/4" X 15 1/8" Set into a nice frame measuring 13" X 16 1/2". The Weems Family is one of the oldest families in the State of Maryland, originally settling in Anne Arundel County in the eighteenth century. The family originated in Scotland, being descended from the noble Wemyss line, although there is disagreement among genealogists concerning how the American and Scottish lines are connected.
