OIL ON CANVAS OF STEAMSHIP BY DAVID TAYLER
20TH Century Artist David Tayler known for his Mid-Atlantic to Cape Cod Paintings. Tayler was born in Massachusetts in 1968. He is a modern day painter who still paints and the fact that he was raised within sight of the ocean is evident in most of his paintings. His work depicts all facets of coastal areas and marine subjects. Previous painting of his that we have owned and sold have been sailing ships, in different versions, such as single, double, triple and J Class. This is the first in a steamship that I have seen or even heard that he has painted. He has in the past studied famous artists in the different sailing ship that are well known artist. This painting he apparently has been studying earlier steamship artists such as Antonio Jacobsen. This painting is very well done and is Custom Framed in a Beautiful New Molded Frame. The measurements of the canvas is 24" X 20" and the frame measurements are 32 1/4" X 28". Even though his paintings are not antique, I have noticed a 100% increase in prices of his works over the past five years.
